Week of Welcome

The second week of September was a busy one with many events throughout.

Wednesday was our 'Walk to Breakfast' in which students and staff started the day with a short walk followed by a healthy hot breakfast served at the school. A bake sale was held at lunch on Thursday to help raise money for the Horn of Africa. Currently, the Canadian government is matching contributions dollar for dollar. The same evening was our annual Meet the Staff night and this year, SCC contributed with a free community BBQ, money hunt and dunk tank. We ended off the week with our annual Terry Fox Walk. This year marked our 20th year of participation. With the total from the previous 19 years coming in over $98000, it is highly expected that we will break the $100000 mark this year.
A big thank you to everyone who helped organize and run the events of this week. Many people stepped forward to help make this week the success that it was!

Telemiracle Silver Drive

Each grade at PCS is being challenged to raise the most money in silver (nickels, dimes and quarters) for Telemiracle. Rolled coins will count as double. Loonies and twonies can be used to sabotage other classes, as they will count against the silver raised.

Please support this worthy Saskatchewan charity that helps disabled people throughout our province. Empty your piggy banks and fill the jars in the foyer of the school.

School Renos

Renovations and upgrades continue at PCS. Since the addition of another portable last year, smaller projects have included upgrading the washrooms outside the gym, and tiling the front entrance. Currently, work is being done to upgrade the high school washrooms and on a larger scale, remodel the old workout room. New plans for this room are to make it a multi-purpose room. It will be outfitted with some computer stations, a comfortable lounging area, reference material for post secondary schools, tables and a video conferencing system. This will be an ideal location for small meetings, students to write a missed exam, small group work, a place for various division professionals to meet with students or staff or as a place to meet with the wellness coordinator. Construction is well underway. The picture shows one interpretation of the project in completion.

Tell Us Your Story

For everyone’s future.
Invest in teachers.

Every day, inside thousands of classrooms and gymnasiums, on countless practice fields and stages, before every school bell rings until long after class is dismissed, teachers are making futures brighter for our families, our communities and our province – one student at a time. As Saskatchewan grows, let’s make sure these everyday heroes have the support they need. Investing in teachers is vital and so is your voice.

Has a teacher inspired you or your child? Why do teachers matter to you? Do you have a teacher hero? Tell us your story.

Kevin Brooks

This afternoon, students from grade 6 to 12 had the opportunity to listen to a dynamic, energetic speaker - Kevin Brooks. Kevin is a car crash survivor who now tours across the country speaking to youth about choices, consequences, drinking and driving, suicide, dealing with pain, both physical and emotional, and forgiveness. What is unique about Kevin is that he discusses these topics not from a preachy way but by telling his own heart-wrenching story. It was not all depressing as he often threw in his own brand of humour around catheters and wheeling in circles. Thank you to SGI and Sasktel for sponsoring Kevin's visit. Judging from the attention and respect from the students, I'm sure it's a presentation that will leave an impression on many. Learn more about Kevin and his story on his website. Students who saw the presentation, please complete the survey on his presentation.
